Wojnarowski announced his departure in September, choosing to join St. Bonaventure University as the general manager of its men’s basketball program. At the time, he described his decision as a move toward more meaningful pursuits, referencing the limited nature of time. He has since clarified that this comment directly reflected his response to the cancer diagnosis.

The health scare prompted Wojnarowski to reevaluate his priorities, shifting his focus toward family and personal well-being. “You realize how quickly life can change,” Wojnarowski shared, explaining how his demanding role at ESPN no longer aligned with what mattered most.

His son, in particular, encouraged him to prioritize his health and happiness, advising, “Dad, you don’t need to do this anymore.”
